Shotcrete and renders
Shotcrete is used for a range of repair projects as it is versatile and fast to apply across large areas. Shotcreting allows for quick application because of the spray equipment used and the fact no formwork needed, making it efficient and economical for contractors to complete. Shotcrete is used in a variety of projects such as canal linings, dam faces, tunnel linings, highway bridges, and walls to strengthen these existing structures. Shotcrete is sprayed through a hose at a high velocity onto a surface and normally reinforced using steel mesh, rods or fibres. Shotcrete requires less labour, materials and results in a strong, durable structure in comparison to traditional concrete. It can also be applied in difficult to reach areas such as overhead and underground areas where traditional concrete cannot be applied.
Renders are essential to the elevation of buildings internally and externally, because it prepares the wall substrate to be built out for a painted or textured finish. Cement render is a mixture of lime, sand, and cement, typically used to finish a range of structures. It is a popular product as the mixture comes in many finishes to create a smooth or textured finish and is cost effective, where it can be applied to large areas at a smaller cost.
Acrylic render is a type of render made of acrylic and other components that creates a durable exterior finish. Acrylic render has a strong adhesion to all surfaces such as uneven concrete brick, plasterboard, fibre cement and painted masonry. The mixture is extremely flexible and strong which allows for absorption, shrinkage and prevents surface cracking. Acrylic render is easy to apply, fast drying and creates an attractive finish depending on the techniques used to create a smooth or textured surface.
