Cementitious Grouts 

Cementitious grouts, also known as precision grouts, are a meticulous blend of cement, water, and often special additives, formulated to achieve a fluid consistency. These grouts are primarily designed to fill voids, secure mechanical equipment, and bridge gaps in various construction and engineering contexts.

Their primary function is to ensure the permanent maintenance of the original level and alignment of machinery or equipment, transferring all loads to the foundation once temporary positioning devices are removed. They also provide lateral support, corrosion protection for shims, and in some cases, sound deadening and vibration reduction. The importance of these grouts lies in their volume change characteristics, ensuring complete and permanent filling of spaces between machinery bases and foundations. Plain grouts, consisting of cement, aggregate, and water, may not always maintain contact due to factors like settlement and shrinkage. Therefore, specially formulated grouts with cementitious or epoxy systems are used to achieve a highly effective bearing area, ensuring optimal contact under bearing plates, free from air bubbles and voids.

Applications of cementitious grouts are extensive, spanning from anchoring equipment bases like columns and baseplates to serving as in-fill for cavity block walls, caulking joints, and pipes. They are also crucial in supporting between pre-cast panels where complete load-bearing isn't mandatory. Furthermore, they play a pivotal role in concrete repairs, including patching in-place structures and addressing issues like honeycombing. Their versatility extends to underpinning, anchoring fixtures, precision grouting, and niche applications such as encapsulating roof bolts in mining.
